Healing Eye of The Storm

With all the tragedies I have read about this week and the negativity and stress of those around me I have been seeking more and more wisdom on what to pray for and why things are the way they are and where do I fit into God’s legacy.  Some days I  feel I am up to the challenges put before me and other days I am scared and paralyzed in fear.
Why God lets bad things happen to good people and good things happen to bad people? Questions many people ask.  Have you ever wondered why someone you loved and treated with kindness and prayed for would still treat you badly?   We ask ourselves why until we are so lost in the storm instead of looking up and kneeling before the Lord in humility.
Even the strongest of Jesus’ disciples stumbled and we still stumble today.  Do not forget that no matter how rough the storm gets as long as you keep your eye on our Lord Jesus Christ, God will see you through with his promises.
The writer of the song “In the Eye of the Storm” was a paramedic for 8 years before he became a hit but in those 8 years God showed him all the things the stories that will forever shape his mind, body, and soul.  And through his shape we hear God’s love songs to us all.

The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a trustworthy envoy brings healing.

Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your  healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.

Singled Out

singled out

Your friends do it, your family does it, and yes even the church does it.  Calling out the Single people.  I think more Churches are reaching out to the single men and women and single parents to help get them connected.  I’m all for this since my ministry’s main focus is on helping Single parents get a fresh start.

But we don’t always talk about the singleness of the parent.  What comes with that? Well, a whole lot of loneliness.  Just because you have kids doesn’t mean you don’t get lonely.  I think some people forget that.  The one thing I know is that we are called to go through growing pains such as singleness to focus on building and strengthening our relationship with Jesus Christ.  God knows what we need more that we do.  As a single mom and woman, God is the first one to get my attention each day and throughout the day.  Every time I take a breath I know he is with me.

As I have strengthened my relationship with God through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and become a discipler of Christ; I am stronger than ever  before.  I can have a really bad moment or day and still wake up the next day to God’s love.  Even when I see people whom have hurt me in the past, I just smile and go on.  It doesn’t mean I don’t remember but because I have forgiven them I can let go and move on with my life.  The devil loves to put you in a tail spin of saddness and regret but you must not let him win.  Fight! Fight! Fight! With all Gods might.

As a single woman or man you must first pray to be the person God wants you to be for the one God made for you.  Be the one for the one.  I thought I was a good person before I surrender to Christ but I am so much more and I know how to love so much more.  This is a gift that God gave me through the trials and tribulations I had to walk through.  Just as I survived you can too.

James 1:2-4New International Version (NIV)

Trials and Temptations

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faithproduces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Psalm 27

Psalm 27New International Version (NIV)

Psalm 27

Of David.

The Lord is my light and my salvation—
    whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
    of whom shall I be afraid?

When the wicked advance against me
    to devour[a] me,
it is my enemies and my foes
    who will stumble and fall.
Though an army besiege me,
    my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
    even then I will be confident.

One thing I ask from the Lord,
    this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
    all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
    and to seek him in his temple.
For in the day of trouble
    he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent
    and set me high upon a rock.

Then my head will be exalted
    above the enemies who surround me;
at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy;
    I will sing and make music to the Lord.

Hear my voice when I call, Lord;
    be merciful to me and answer me.
My heart says of you, “Seek his face!”
    Your face, Lord, I will seek.
Do not hide your face from me,
    do not turn your servant away in anger;
    you have been my helper.
Do not reject me or forsake me,
    God my Savior.
10 Though my father and mother forsake me,
    the Lord will receive me.
11 Teach me your way, Lord;
    lead me in a straight path
    because of my oppressors.
12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes,
    for false witnesses rise up against me,
    spouting malicious accusations.

13 I remain confident of this:
    I will see the goodness of the Lord
    in the land of the living.
14 Wait for the Lord;
    be strong and take heart
    and wait for the Lord.

Girl Meets World Writers

girl meets world

My daughter Sela loves to watch “Girl Meets World” show and frankly I do too.  The writers of this show are great.  Their comedy and life lessons are good and clean not filled with unnecessary vulgar.  It’s more real than many shows on television today.  Sela and I watched Icarly in the past and we still enjoy the reruns. Icarly is where I learned to make my famous Spaghetti tacos that we love.

I want to encourage moms and dads to watch more clean shows that teach about life with their children.  Although I encourage more reading than watching TV it is still nice to just sit and enjoy a show with your kids from time to time especially Saturday mornings.  That was huge for my family as a kid.  A big breakfast and Saturday morning cartoons or other favorite shows.

I love to write so as a writer the writers of this show inspire me to keep do what I am passionate about because like them I know I am making a difference. God is great and his plan although not always what we want; it is what we need to be great for his will.

God Bless!

Hope and Faith

do-not-fear1

For a quiet person, I have a lot to say.  “I like to observe my prey before I pounce.” is my famous phrase when I’m told I’m quiet.  When I first meet someone or join a group I like to observe the people around me before I say too much so that I know how  to handle them as an individual. However, I have from time to time jumped in head first and hoped for the best.  When I write it is a leap of faith.

For our bible study group last night we watched “Miracle from Heaven” and it is a wonderful movie. Caution: must watch with a box of Kleenex.  The movie is based on a true story.  It gives you hope for your situation in life that is weighing you down and reignite’s your Faith in God.  God knows exactly what you need and I needed it so badly.  I like most believers in this world have unanswered prayers that shake’s our faith but as usual God’s loving sense of humor is there to love me and hold me.  Without hearing a word spoken God speaks to your heart.  He said, “I know your pain and the desires of your heart. Be patient and it will be done.”

With this hope and strengthened faith I share these moments with you.

God bless,

King of Kings

With the latest tragedies in the news from the streets of the United States to the desert sands of Asia it is heartbreaking to see humans killing one another.  Hurt people hurt people and that is what is happening all over the world.  Evil grabs ahold of the human heart and twists it into this bitter, angry, human machine that will do nothing but destroy believing that it will solve the emptiness from a disagreement or pain suffered; but it will not.  The hole in  our hearts can only be filled and healed by God our heavenly father.  Through God’s Son Jesus Christ who suffered and died for us we can receive this healing by surrendering our mind, bodies, and souls to The Lord.

God grants us power to do his will even if we don’t believe.  God has a plan for even the evilest of hearts.  God will take the bad in this world and use it for his greater good even the most painful situations that we don’t understand.

God anointed Saul to be the first King of Israel but he became arrogant and decided that he would do what he wanted to do to get his way because he was the King.  What The Lord giveth he can take away.   When Saul had lost God’s favor he did not repent and humble himself before God; he became bitter and paranoid until his death.   His most trusted fighter David was anointed as the next King.  King David was a man after God’s own heart but he too became arrogant and instead of praying for God to give him the woman he loved he just took her.  He stole her from his best friend and then sent his best friend and loyal subject to the frontlines of war and left him to die alone.  Although it is hard to believe God would love someone who would do this; he still loved David.  God punished David with the death of his first child but David repented and begged God to forgive him and asked for his guidance.  God forgave him and blessed him and his wife Bathsheba with another son who would be King Solomon.

God is forgiving but we must humble ourselves.  Do not forget that what you are blessed with today could be gone tomorrow.  Seek God first in everything you do so that you will live life to the fullest and love like there is no tomorrow.

Matthew 6:25  “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.”

Matthew 6:33  “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
